Larry BrodieEXECUTIVE PASTOR
Larry was born and raised near Rochester, New York. He served in the Army National Guard from 1968-1974. During that time, he was licensed by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. He received his Operator's License in 1972 and his Senior Operator's License in 1978. For 19 years, he worked in construction, operation, and maintenance of nuclear power plants with Rochester Gas & Electric and Babcock & Wilcox.
In 1974, while working at RG & E and through the witnessing of co-workers there, Larry came to know Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. Looking to spend more time with his family, he took a job with an engineering company in Michigan and started attending church regularly. Here, he was discipled and began to develop a hunger for ministry. In 1984 he moved to Lynchburg to work for B & W. He had intentions of taking courses at LU and retiring early to enter into the ministry. Shortly after moving to Lynchburg, the Brodies started attending Timberlake Baptist Church. God moved upon Larry's heart to enter ministry sooner than he had planned. He soon became Awana Commander, an adult Sunday School teacher, and a deacon. In 1987 he joined full-time staff at TBC. Now Larry serves as the Executive Pastor of TBC and also the Chairman of the Timberlake Christian Schools Executive Committee. He teaches and leads the Abundant Life Sunday School class with the help of his wife. |
