Philosophy of Ministry:

Why does Student Ministries exist at Timberlake Baptist Church?  It exists to glorify God by seeking to make disciples of Christ, and to challenge those disciples to model God’s Word, minister to others, and be messengers to the unbelieving.  Our pursuit is to disciple others toward Christlikeness by developing an atmosphere that stimulates spiritual health and growth.

God’s Word makes it clear that change into Christlikeness comes from the impact of Scripture in the life of the believer (John 17:17; 1 Tim. 3:16, 17).   It is for this reason that we firmly believe that the Word of God must be central and primary in the ministry that desires to make disciples.  Our aim, therefore, is to centralize the Word of God so that our teens will learn to love and live the Scriptures.

This ministry does not exist to replace the parents’ role, but to come alongside them as they shepherd their families.  We want to partner with the parents in prayer for their teenagers and see them become men and women who are marked by their love for Jesus and their commitment to the Word.

As we teach the Word to the teenagers, it is crucial that they see a genuine love behind it and a life that models the truth it teaches.  Puritan Thomas Fuller said, “With your teaching, you set the nails in place.  With your life, you hammer them deep.” This happens as we build relationships with them, encourage them in the Word, and point them to the sufficiency of Christ.  We believe that these years in a teenager’s life are an age of unprecedented opportunity, and it must be approached with a sense of hope and mission.  It is our desire to see God ignite a passion within each teenager to love Him and His Word, so that they will become an active and passionate participant in the body of Christ.

Would you partner in prayer with us as a student ministry? As we pray together, we look forward to seeing how God would choose to answer these prayers and use these men and women for His glory to do exceedingly abundantly above all we could ask or think!
